This message is being sent to all POPmail users. (Eudora, Nupop, etc.)


If you are using Eudora, Nupop or some other "POPmail" application,please check your settings to make sure you are using the new POP Serverand SMTP Server machines.

In order to improve email service to the University community, ACS isenhancing the computers that send and receive your email messages. In orderto take advantage of these changes, your email program must be configuredto use these hosts.

Instructions for checking your email settings are supplied below. Ifyou have already made these changes, please disregard the message.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Eudora Lite (1.5.x):

  1. Click on the SPECIAL menu and choose the "Settings" menuitem (for some Windows Eudora, click on the TOOLS menu and select "Options").
  2. Select the "Hosts" icon from the list on the left (you mightneed to scroll down).
  3. For the "POP Account" field, make sure your entry looks likethis:
    1. userid@acs-popmail.uchicago.edu

      Where "userid" is your own user name.

  4. In the SMTP field, change your entry so it looks like this:
    1. acs-email.uchicago.edu

  5. In the Ph field, change your entry so it looks like this:
    1. ns.uchicago.edu

  6. In the Finger field, change your entry so it looks like this:
    1. acs-email.uchicago.edu

  7. Click on the OK button to save your changes.

NuPOP:

  1. Select OPTIONS menu and click on the "Network" menu item.
  2. For the "Incoming Mail Server (POP)" field, make sure yourentry looks like this:
    1. userid@acs-popmail.uchicago.edu

      Where "userid" is your own user name.

  3. In the "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" field, change your entryso it looks like this:
    1. acs-email.uchicago.edu

  4. In the "Email Address Server (Ph)" field, change your entryso it looks like this:
    1. ns.uchicago.edu

  5. In the "Finger Server" field, change your entry so it lookslike this:
    1. acs-email.uchicago.edu

  6. Click on the OK button to save your changes.
